“Dreamers, Doers... Together!”
Since 2005, the Loakan Educational Assistance Project (LEAP) has opened the door to college for bright, financially challenged youth in the Philippines. Each year, The LEAP–YEAH! has recorded that journey: the scholars, the supporters, and the hope they share.
The Story Behind the Pages
What began in December 1999 with $52.50 raised by five founders grew into LEAP, a full college scholarship program first awarded in 2005. The LEAP–YEAH! is the annual publication that tells that story, year by year.
LEAP symbolizes the partnership between “Dreamers and Doers”: Loakan Charity Foundation, Inc. (LCFI / DJLF Charity Foundation) and DJLF Charity Philippines, Inc. (DCPI). Together, they turn generosity in the United States into opportunity in the Philippines.
LEAP empowers financially challenged yet academically qualified youth in the Philippines to pursue higher education, beginning with graduates of Baguio City National High School in Loakan, the community surrounding the Philippine Military Academy.
Each edition serves as the foundation's annual report: the year's scholars, activities, finances, and the road ahead.
A transparent look at how contributions become tuition, mentorship, and diplomas, and at the sponsors who made it possible.
A preserved legacy of those who came before, inspiring today's scholars to continue the cycle of giving back.
